Step in the Wrong Direction

It’s good to (finally) see some of the newer features show up in the Mac app, but it’s plagued by a choppy UI instead of the smooth transitions of previous versions (and the OS app), constant timeouts, overall poor responsiveness, and adjustments to the size and placement of the notification/UI elements in the sidebar that are amateurish and poorly thought out. (The dot for “new tweets in your timeline" now appears in the spot where reply/retweet notifications were for *years*, a change both wildly unnecessary and almost deliberately confusing.)

Despite the lack of features, the official Twitter for Mac app has always been my favourite for a variety of reasons, but the update to 4.0 (even with the bug fixes of 4.0.1) is such a step in the wrong direction that it might now be the absolute worst OS X twitter app on the market.
