Was so excited to find out Twitter for Mac was finally updated. After installing it, not so much. What’s with that ugly blue sidebar?

Not sure about the complaints on the interface. The old version was terribly outdated and didn’t match how Twitter worked on other platforms. I like the new look and feel, but there seems to be a bug that results in annoying repeated notifications every five minutes or so. I’d give it a higher rating once that’s fixed!
since the latest update, twitter crasheds within 5 seconds of opening. I have tried deleting and reinstalling and nothing helps.
User experience has degraded from the previous version. Choppy without segues or animations. The ability to disable retweets from specific users is gone. Crap upgrade. Wish I could go back to 3.x.
Installed version 4.0.1 on my MacBook Pro (17-inch, Mid 2010) and the application launches momentarily and then crashes. Attempting to re-launch simply repeats the process. Not as good as Version 3.
It’s great you chose to upgrade after so many years but the version, with image previews enabled is extremely slow. Also, the retweets from users that were previously turned off, don’t apply. It’s very inconveniencing.
4.01 is a disaster. For no apparent reason it keeps hanging.
This is a total junk update. Crash all the time. DO NOT INSTALL.
Crashes about 2-5 times a day, locks up with significant memory leaks. Feels like they left this not to the B team, but a team of fresh out of school college coders who don’t know the first thing about UX or QA. Garbage.
Site crashes since last update and I keep getting messages that I have too many devices linked to my account. I dont. I checked on my Twitter account and Im only logged in twice (phone and computer)... if thats too many places, then Twitter (or the app developper) may want to rethink modern social media. We need to be able to connect on various devices at once (computer, phone, tablet, etc.).
The recent update absolutely destroyed the reliability and usability of this app. It constatnly freezes up and times out. I’ve held off on updating to Tweetbot becaeu it’s kind of pricy and the Twitter apps have always worked well enough, but with this horrable Twitter update it’s convinved me to pay the $$ for Tweetbot.
In general, I find this app good. Occasionally it disconnects (and sometimes its does at the wrongest times!!!). But its user friendly and I enjoy using it more than other twitter apps.
It’s good to (finally) see some of the newer features show up in the Mac app, but it’s plagued by a choppy UI instead of the smooth transitions of previous versions (and the OS app), constant timeouts, overall poor responsiveness, and adjustments to the size and placement of the notification/UI elements in the sidebar that are amateurish and poorly thought out. (The dot for “new tweets in your timeline" now appears in the spot where reply/retweet notifications were for *years*, a change both wildly unnecessary and almost deliberately confusing.) Despite the lack of features, the official Twitter for Mac app has always been my favourite for a variety of reasons, but the update to 4.0 (even with the bug fixes of 4.0.1) is such a step in the wrong direction that it might now be the absolute worst OS X twitter app on the market.
The app was great before the update, but now it’s become unusable. It constantly puts up the pinwheel, as in type a letter - wait for the pinwheel, after a couple of minutes of struggling the pinwheel stays up and it crashes. I’ve uninstalled and looking for something else.
Since the update the app crashes shortly after opening. This repeats forever. What’s going on over there Twitter?
When I’m reading a thread of tweets, I’d rather it took me to the actual tweet I clicked on than the top of the conversation, especially if I’m clicking on different tweets in the conversation. I have to scroll through to find them, which is made even harder with the fact that the first piece of text on Twitter (let it be username in hashtag area or actual tweets themself when clicked on) are in a size 3 font! Please try to fix this, Twitter shouldn’t be an effort.
I am tired of having to scroll to the top if I read a tweet and forget to scroll to the top of the stream window. I want an option to always scroll to the top all the time. Tired of not seeing the latest tweets.
Above and beyond the other problems with this app, as of this version it can be incredibly unstable. It goes through periods when it crashes instantly on launch. After a few minutes it can settle down, but these periods of instability occur without warning or, for that matter, any user input whatsoever. It should be noted that there is no way to report problems like this via Twitter Support, which is to say that the support link is a waste of time unless you need basic, 101-level instruction on how to use the app. You should be able to report problems like this to the developer and right now you can’t.
Buggy AF! There’s something fundamentally wrong when the native app for a service forces its users to go out and buy a much better 3rd party version.
The new version is so bad. It always automatically scrolls to the top of your twitter feed after your computer comes out of standby. That is enough for me to give it one star. Also periodically shows the internet connection appears to be offline when scrolling down on your feed (looking at it now). Not sure what to do, I miss so much of my feed there is little point to using twitter :(
